Description
The UNGA Week of International Affairs Presidential Town
Meetings planning committee consisting of representatives from the group of 25
colleges that make up the City University of New York (CUNY), members of the
United Nations NGO community, and relevant stakeholders extend an invite to world
leaders to speak at selected campuses on the thematic focus of our Week: “Diplomacy,
Multiculturalism & Diversity, Partnerships and the Diaspora Economy”. The
town meetings provide a unique opportunity for students, faculty, and the broader
community to be exposed to real-world dealings of pressing issues and policymaking,
reinforcing the idea that global challenges require collective efforts.
To expand the reach of the events, the town meetings will be
livestreamed online, enabling global audiences to participate virtually.
Hosting UNGA Week town meetings with world leaders at CUNY
schools presents a unique opportunity to strengthen civic engagement, foster
global awareness, and encourage youth participation in international affairs.
By bringing global discussions to academic institutions, we can create a more
informed and active citizenry while nurturing future leaders who understand the
complexities of our interconnected world.
